It’s no longer news, Afrobeats music has gotten its official chart in the United Kingdom as organised by the Official Charts Company aka Official Charts.
After several years of Afrobeats penetration in the UK, Official Charts in collaboration with Afro Nation have begun compiling the weekly top ten Afrobeats hits in the UK.
The Official UK Afrobeats Chart launched a few days back. The chart is compiled by stats from streaming, digital stores sales and radio play across the UK.
For the debut edition of the chart Nigerian music stars Wizkid, Burna Boy, Rema and Simi made it to the top ten countdown.
Wizkid occupied the highest position by a Nigerian on the chart after his new song ‘Smile‘ debuted at number 3. Burna Boy had two songs on the chart, ‘Wonderful’ and ‘Gum Body’s featuring Jorja Smith.
Rema was at number 7 with ‘Woman‘ and Simi occupied the 10th spot with ‘Duduke’.
