Nigerian singer, Asake, has been making news online over the five million Naira he gifted to ailing policewoman, Helen Utabor, in viral ‘Epp me’ video.
Helen was responsible for the viral ‘epp me epp me, he dey carry me go where I no know’ trend and it garnered massive attentions online. Many social media users including Asake jumped on the trend to create their contents.
In recent days, the police begged Nigerians for financial support after being hit by a vehicle while controlling traffic in Edo state. She is presently hospitalized with one of her legs covered in bandages.
Asake, known for his music, responded to her plea by making a donation of N5 million. However, the seemingly generous act sparked controversy rather than applause.
It’s worth noting that the ‘Terminator’ crooner made use of the woman’s audio in his hit song, ‘Peace be unto you’ without giving her any royalties. According to report, the song hit over N500 million in streams.
