Afrobeat singer, Tiwa Savage, has announced her debut feature film, ‘Water and Garri’, which is coming exclusively on popular movie-streaming platform, Prime Video.
‘Water and Garri’ starred teenager actor Mike Afolarin, Jemima Osunde, Andrew Bunting and the music star herself, who took the lead actress role.
Aisha (played by Tiwa), an aspiring fashion designer whose career is flourishing in the U.S. However, after a decade abroad, she returns to her homeland due to a family tragedy. The dynamics have shifted in her absence, with an increase in violence and heightened tensions. Reconnecting with family, old friends, and a past love, Aisha must navigate the changes, learn to cope with her emotional scars, and confront the lingering guilt from her past.
The movie was directed by Meji Alabi, produced by Jimi Adesanya, and written by Comfort Emmanuel, with music by Tiwa Savage. The executive producers are Savage, Vannessa Amadi-Ogbonna, Adesanya, and Alabi.
The beautiful mother of one, who had recently taken break from her music career, shared the good news via her Instagram page as she revealed that the debut film will be released this year 2024 on Amazon Prime video.
She wrote, “Guys, I’m so excited to announce that my first feature film #WaterAndGarri will be released *this year *through @primevideo and shown in over 240 countries and territories worldwide 🥰🙌🏽🥳🥳🥳🥳😁😁😁🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾”.
