A Nigerian woman has sparked reactions online after sharing a shocking experience involving a savings box she had been using for over two years.
According to her, she had consistently deposited money into the box, including cash gifts, birthday money, pounds, dollars, and thousands of naira notes, hoping to save enough for something meaningful.
Explaining the situation, she said she believed the total amount saved should have exceeded ₦1 million.
In her words:
“Things dey happen oo. I’ve been saving money in this safe box for two years now. If I calculate the money I’ve been putting there, it should be more than ₦1 million.”
The woman revealed that she recently decided to break open the box with plans to use the money to purchase a popcorn machine.
However, she said she was left stunned after allegedly discovering that only ₦12,000 remained inside.
“I was the one that broke it myself. There was no sign that anybody tampered with it. But when I opened it, I saw only ₦12,000. The dollars, pounds, and all the cash I kept there were gone,” she added.
Her story has since generated mixed reactions online, with some social media users suggesting the savings box may have had a hidden opening, while others jokingly blamed spiritual forces for the mysterious disappearance.
Still trying to understand what happened, the woman warned people against using savings boxes, insisting she could not explain how such a large amount of money allegedly disappeared without any visible sign of tampering.
