“They Demanded N50 Million for Our Release” — Pastor Recounts Harrowing Kidnap Ordeal With Wife and Sister

An Edo-based pastor, Caleb Adavize Philip, has recounted the traumatic experience he and his family endured after they were abducted by kidnappers and held captive for several days.

According to the cleric, he was kidnapped alongside his wife and sister, while their captors demanded a ransom of N50 million for their release.

Sharing his ordeal in a Facebook post on Thursday, June 11, 2026, Philip also posted photographs showing himself, his wife and sister receiving medical treatment in a hospital shortly after regaining their freedom.

The images highlighted the physical and emotional toll of the harrowing experience, which the pastor described as one of the most difficult periods of his life.

Reflecting on the days spent in captivity, Philip revealed that the incident left a lasting impact on him and his family, noting that the fear, uncertainty and suffering they experienced were beyond words.

“I can’t forget this in a hurry, how we were kidnapped, myself, wife and sis for days and they were demanding for 50 million naira,” he wrote.

Expressing the depth of the trauma they endured, the pastor stated that kidnapping is an experience he would never wish on anyone, including his enemies.

“The worst prayer you could pray for your enemies is for them to be kidnapped, yes, that’s the highest,” he added.

He concluded his post with a prayer for the country, writing: “Lord save our nation. Thank you Jesus for our life.”

The pastor’s account has since drawn sympathy from many social media users, with several expressing gratitude for the family’s safe return and calling for stronger measures to tackle insecurity and kidnapping across the country.
