Nollywood actress Uche Jombo has expressed her displeasure following the circulation of alleged photos and videos of late actor Alex Ekubo’s wife, which surfaced online shortly after his service of songs.
Reacting to the controversy, the actress questioned why bloggers chose to publicize the woman’s identity despite what she described as Alex Ekubo’s deliberate efforts to keep his wife away from public attention throughout their relationship.
According to Uche Jombo, the actor had endured years of public scrutiny and media attention, yet remained committed to protecting his wife’s privacy. She noted that neither his close friends nor associates ever revealed her identity, even during public appearances.
Taking to social media, the actress wrote:
“A husband who has been through public scrutiny kept his wife private (to protect her). None of his close friends ever shared her picture. She wore a face mask to his service of songs.
Yet somehow, the privacy message didn’t register to bloggers. Woke up today to her videos and pictures all over my TL as breaking news.”
Uche argued that Alex Ekubo’s consistent decision to shield his wife from the spotlight should have been enough indication that he wanted her identity kept away from public consumption.
Her comments have since sparked widespread debate online, with many social media users weighing in on the delicate balance between public interest and personal privacy.
While some maintained that celebrities and their families inevitably attract public attention, others agreed with Uche Jombo, insisting that Alex Ekubo’s efforts to protect his wife’s identity should have been respected, even after his passing.
The incident has reignited conversations about privacy, media ethics, and the limits of public curiosity when it comes to the loved ones of public figures.
