A man has sparked conversations online after sharing the surprising reason he chose to marry his wife instead of another woman he admitted he loved more while they were dating.
According to the man, he was involved with three different women at the same time during the early stages of his relationship journey. However, the woman who eventually became his wife was not his first choice.
Recounting his experience, he revealed that among the three women, his current wife ranked lowest in terms of his romantic interest.
“When I was dating my wife, there were two other girls I was also dating at the same time. Among the three of them, my wife was the least. I didn’t even care about her that much. It was one of the other two girls that I loved so much,” he said.
The man explained that his perspective changed during a difficult period in his life when he urgently needed financial assistance.
“One day, I had a very serious problem and asked the girl I loved for ₦5,000. She got angry and told me it was a taboo for a woman to give a man money,” he recalled.
According to him, his experience with the second woman was no different.
“The second girl didn’t even allow me explain myself before she ended the call,” he added.
Left with no other option, he decided to reach out to the woman who is now his wife.
“I then called this small girl, and she gave me ₦10,000 immediately. From that moment, my mindset changed,” he said.
Reflecting on the experience, the man stated that support and loyalty often play a significant role in a man’s decision to settle down.
“All these girls, if the only thing you can offer a man is your body, they’ll keep sleeping with you and still not marry you,” he said.
His story has since generated mixed reactions on social media. While some users agreed that genuine support during difficult times can influence major relationship decisions, others argued that choosing a life partner should be based on a broader range of qualities rather than a single experience.
