“I Spent ₦80k on a Suit, Then Got Removed as Groomsman a Day Before the Wedding” — Man Shares Painful Experience

A man has sparked conversations on social media after revealing why he chose not to attend the wedding of a close friend despite being heavily involved in the preparations for months.

According to him, he was originally selected as one of the groom’s groomsmen and actively supported the wedding planning process from the early stages.

Recounting his experience, the man explained that he dedicated both his time and resources to help ensure the ceremony was successful. He revealed that he spent ₦80,000 to sew a suit specifically for the occasion because of the close bond he shared with the groom.

“We had been planning the wedding together for months. I followed him around the market to buy things, helped him book the MC and the DJ, and assisted with several other preparations,” he said.

The man noted that he remained committed throughout the planning period and had no reason to believe his role in the wedding would change.

However, he said events took an unexpected turn just a day before the ceremony when the groom contacted him with a different assignment.

“Then, a day before the wedding, he called me and said I shouldn’t be among the groomsmen anymore. Instead, he wanted me to help look after the drinks during the event,” he recalled.

Expressing his disappointment, he added, “I spent ₦80,000 on a suit simply because he was my good friend. And now he’s dropping me, probably because the other guys are richer.”

Despite feeling hurt by the decision, the man said he chose not to confront the groom and instead decided to stay away from the wedding entirely.

His story has since generated mixed reactions online, with many social media users debating issues of friendship, loyalty, and expectations surrounding wedding ceremonies.
