A matchmaker has stirred reactions online after alleging that a 42-year-old woman lost a potential husband due to what he described as an excessive bride price demand from her family.
Speaking in a video that has since gone viral, the matchmaker recounted how he successfully connected the woman with a man who was genuinely interested in marrying her. According to him, the relationship appeared promising until discussions about the bride price began.
He claimed that the woman’s family presented a list of marriage requirements worth nearly ₦12 million, a move he believes discouraged the prospective groom from proceeding with the marriage plans.

“You’re 42 years old, and I managed to get you a man. He asked for bride price, and your parents are bringing almost ₦12 million as a bride price list. Forty-two years old, no children, never been married, and you have the mind to be asking for such an amount as bride price,” he said.
He further revealed that the woman later contacted him, complaining that the man had stopped answering her calls and had allegedly blocked her after the marriage discussions.
“Now you’re telling me that you’ve been calling him, he’s not picking your calls and has blocked you. I know what I went through before connecting you with that man. Forty-two years old. Now it’s clear that your village people are the ones doing you,” he added.
