An Uber driver has triggered conversations online after opening up about experiences he claims to have repeatedly witnessed while transporting female passengers.
According to the driver, he has noticed what he described as a recurring pattern involving some women allegedly giving misleading information to their partners about where they are actually going.
Sharing his observations, he said this was not an isolated incident but something he had encountered multiple times while working.
In his words:
“This is not the first time, second time, not even the third time that I will pick up a lady, and you will think they are going for a get-together. It’s the same strategy, different ladies, but the same lie.”
The driver alleged that some women tell their boyfriends they are attending birthday parties, office events, or social gatherings, only for him to later realise they were heading elsewhere.
He further claimed that some of them prepare excuses in advance by informing their partners they may not be reachable because of loud music or activities at the event.
According to him:
“They will tell their boyfriend, ‘When I get there, it will be noisy and we may not be able to talk until tomorrow.’ But when we get to the destination, na so so men them dey go meet. Once we arrive, the man they came to meet will come out and pay the fare.”
His comments have since generated mixed reactions online. While some people agreed with his claims and shared similar opinions, others argued that personal experiences should not be used to generalise women or relationships.
The driver added that some of the experiences he has had since becoming a ride-hailing driver have made him question relationships and marriage, saying certain encounters still leave him surprised.
“Everytime girls say I want to go to see my friend or go to the club with the girls, they will tell their boyfriend it’ll be noisy at the club so they can’t be able to talk so he won’t call them & then when we reach the destination it’s another man they come to see & it’s always… pic.twitter.com/kf1BuZNXww
